Panda mame is an heirloom variety of Japanese origin. It acquired its name due to its panda-like black markings and its appearance when soaked or cooked.
黒い斑紋があることからパンダ豆とよばれています。ゆで上がりは、ホクホクしているので塩を振るだけでもおいしい。若いうちは、さやも食べられます。地方の田舎で長寿の女性が常食にしている食べ物としてテレビで取り上げられてから知られるようになりました。黒い斑紋が残るので、模様をアクセントにした粒のまま使う料理におすすめ。あっさり味。1
