(Bush) Dry use bean. Schwarzwälder Ausmachbohne originated in the Black Forest [Schwarzwald] region of Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany.
Before or after coming to the United States, before the year 2015, ‘Schwarzwälder Ausmachbohne’ adopted the alliterated varietal name “Schwarz Valder Aus Machbonne”.
“Auskernbohne aus dem Schwarzwald. Wird etwa 50 cm hoch. Die grünen Hülsen werden schnell rauh und sind weniger zum Verzehr geeignet. Die Kerne sind beige mit leichter Maserung. Sie schmecken sehr fein und haben ein typisches Eigenaroma.” (Prospecierara 1)

“The bean variety “Schwarzwälder Ausmachbohne” means directly translated “blackforest put out /turn off bean” or something like “blackforest matter bean”. The blackforest is an area in Germany and often are the varieties named after the area they come from. This variety was introduced to Canada by US collector Russell Crow, and was received by him in 2015 from a donor in Hardwick, Vermont.
