Caserta

Early-producing cocozelle type zucchini. Later used by the University of Conneticut as a parent variety for Black Beauty Zucchini (1957) and Storr’s Green Hybrid Zucchini. Due to its name, Caserta zucchini is often inaccurately cited as an heirloom originating from Caserta, Italy.
History
Early-producing cocozelle type zucchini that was selected by the University of Conneticut from the Italian Cocozelle. In 1949 it was introduced to home gardeners by F. H. Woodruff and Sons. Winner of the 1949 AAS selections.
