Champion

(Spring) A round red “cherry belle” type radish with white interior flesh. Pink flowers that fade to white in the center.
Bred by A.R. Zwaan & Son circa 1957. It was named All American Selections (AAS) winner in 1957. Champion is noted for lack of pith, which some radishes are prone to.
* Daikon type radishes were largely bred in Asia. Round ‘spring’ type radishes were bred by the Dutch and French.
