Chriesistei

(Chrisistei, Chriesistei 1, Chriesister 1, Kersenpit “Cherry Pit”, Kirschkern 1)
(Pole) Chriesistei is a Swiss heirloom, with curved yellow pods (like annelino, crochet, crochu, and kipfler type beans). The pods contain small oval cherry coloured seeds.
The name Chreisistei originated from the Swiss German words:
Chriesi (Swiss German) = cherry
Stei (Swiss German) = stone

Origin
“Chriesistei is the Swiss German word for Cherrystone. The Chriesistei pole beans have been a traditional bean in the Canton (=State) of Aargau in Switzerland [Note: Boniswil, Dintikon and Reinach]. […] Today, these beans are very rare and I know only one farmer that is cultivating the Chriesistei Boniswil, and another person that is cultivating Chriesi-Stei.” – Isabelle Flückiger 2024
Today Chriesistei beans are very rare. 4 varieties of Chreisistei beans are logged at the Swiss based organization ProSpecieRara: Chriesi-Stei, Chriesistei Boniswil, Chriesistei Dintikon, Chriesistei Reinach
They originate, respectively, from the Canton of Aargau villages of Boniswil, Dintikon and Reinach.
