Dragon Langerie
(Dragon Tongue, Merveille de Piemonte (English: Wonder of Piedmont), Romano Bush)
(Bush) Dragon Langerie (“Dragon bean”) is an heirloom wax bean from Holland, 1 and dates to at least the 19th century. 2 The mature plants have 6 – 8” long flat yellow pods with purple/magenta streaks. It is rare, but there is also the odd pod that is almost entirely purple. The seeds are lilac with navy streak/spotting and the rare navy seed with lilac streaks/spotting. This bean is a very productive early producer, with good shade and heat tolerance. It is a rather forgiving variety so if you cannot pick beans right away the older ones are usually still tender.

Origin
The origins of Dragon Langerie is the Netherlands, though it appears to have been an extensive traveller through Europe. The exact circumstances are unclear, however Dragon Langerie is also cited as being an heirloom of the Piemonte region of Italy, and an heirloom in France.
