(Pole) Hopi Purple String Bean has been grown for centuries in the Hopi Mesas (Three Mesas), by the Hopi Tribe of Arizona. 1 Seed coats are very unique, and are purple with a darked purple convex (to the hilum) “crescent” markings.
This strain comes from the Native Seed Search. According to their Adapts database there are 5 logged original samples – the dates of which 3 are mentioned – 1992 (listed possibly no seed viable), 1992, and 1979. 2 These 3 are listed as having been collected in Arizona, USA, and were collected in the high desert. 2
