Mandan Banquet

Mandan Banquet

(C. maxima) Mandan Banquet (Will’s Banquet) squash was developed by Oscar H. Will and his sons, of North Dakota. 1

At 26 (1881), Oscar H. Will purchased Fuller’s Greenhouse, which he later renamed Oscar H. Will & Company. He worked with the nearby native tribes to develop new varieties of corn and later carried out experiments with beans and squash. Oscar H. Will is most noted for making commercially available the Great Northern Bean (original seed given to Will in 1886 by the Hidatsa man, Son of a Star). 1
