As many commercial cultivars in Africa have disappeared over the years, Alan Reynolds has worked to collect and preserve these varieties. 1 This variety was given by him to bean collector Mandy Botican of Tyndall, Manitoba who introduced it to Canada. Seeds are white. According to Russell Crow’s listing Piet’s Special may originate from Hennopsrivier, South Africa. 2
