Pusa Gulabi

(Winter / Daikon) Open-pollinated daikon radish with light pink skin and bright pink core. The Hindi word Gulabi translates to English to mean ‘Rose’.
It was developed in 2012 by Dr. Pritam Kalia at The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI, or Pusa Institute) in New Delhi, India. 1, 2 It was later released 2013 by the SVRC (State Variety Release Committee). 2 The Pusa Institute states that it displays, “high total carotenoids, anthocyanins and optimal ascorbic acid”. 1
Pusa Gulabi is listed as higher yielding of the two Pusa radish cultivars. [Average yield: Pusa Gulabi (6.0 t/ha), Pusa Jamuni (5.0 t/ha)]. 2
