Pusa Jamuni

(Winter / Daikon) Pusa Jamuni is an open-pollinated daikon radish developed by Dr. Pritam Kalia at The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI, or Pusa Institute).
Pusa Gulabi was developed in 2012, and released in 2013 by the SVRC (State Variety Release Committee). 1, 2 It was originally bred for use as a nutritient dense food souce (with high anthocyanins and ascorbic acid) in poor people’s crops. Light purple skin and a striking amethyst core. The name translates into English to mean ‘Pusa Purple’.
