Pusa Jamuni
(Winter / Daikon) Pusa Jamuni is an open-pollinated daikon radish developed by Dr. Pritam Kalia at The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI, or Pusa Institute). Both Pusa Jamuni and Pusa Gulabi are relatively new, having been made available in 2013. It was originally bred for use as a nutritient dense food souce (with high anthocyanins and ascorbic acid) in poor people’s crops. Light purple skin and a striking amethyst core. The name translates into English to mean ‘Pusa Purple’.
