Rote Hagnauer
(Bush) (Rote Hagnauer, Hagnauer Rote) A regional German heirloom in Hagnau am Bodensee. In a 2019 article Genbänkle shared that the Hagnauer rote Bohne (Hagnauer red bean) “[…] can only be bought at the “Museumsfeschtle”, the end of the season of the local history association in the museum in Hagnau am Bodensee.” 1 Historically, and in contrast, this variety was popularly “zwischen den Weinreben kultiviert” 1 in local fields. This bean is an important ingredient in the traditional Friday dish “beans and spaetzle”. 1 The seeds are long and flat with a muted dark salmon pink colour with darker red-pink streaks and speckles.
