The Oscar H. Will & Co. seed company offered both a ‘Common Strain’ (later listed as ‘Great Plains’ strain and ‘Great Plains Rainbow’) and ‘South Dakota’ strain of Rainbow flint corn. The 1925 Oscar H. Will & Co. catalogue mentions the Santee Sioux of Nebraska as the probable origin of Rainbow Flint corn. The 1930 Oscar H. Will & Co. catalogue refers to Rainbow Flint as a native variety from the Northern Nebraska first nations.
