Sultan’s Golden Crescent
(Pole) Sultan’s Golden Crescent is an old heirloom (BC KO T1) with unknown origins and history. It is thought to be an American variety. 2 According to the Seed Savers Exchange seed catalogue of 2009, this crescent type bean is,
“Rarely offered and almost extinct. SSE is pleased to reintroduce this variety. Very distinct curly yellow snap bean, stringless, prolific and very good taste.” 3
The seeds are round and a beautiful burgundy with cream speckles and splotches. Sultan’s Golden Crescent has a “sibling” variety, Sultan’s Green Crescent, which has green pods and white seeds.
