(Bush) Anellino di Trento originated from the Trento province in Italy. ⁴ It is alternatively named Anellino Marmorizzato (‘Marbled Ring’) due to its prominently curved green pods marbled with purple.

The name ‘anellino’ (“little rings”) refers to the larger group of curved podded beans native to Italy.

According to the Washington Post, “These are sometimes called “shrimp beans,” because, like the crustacean, they grow in the shape of a crescent.” ²
