(Gentleman’s Little Bean)

(Pole) The name Herrenböhnli translates to “Gentleman’s Little Bean” or “Lords’ Beanlings”. ¹ Herrenböhnli’s pods are small and similar to a french filet type bean – tender and stringless. Plants are delicately statured and productive. Seed are small ‘pink-beige’ and round with a very shiny luster.

This variety has been traced to the regions of Steinach, Mellikon and Haute-Savoie. ² Herrenbohli has origins in Switzerland ³ where it had been well known to German-speaking Switzerland. ² It is noted as to be likely an “alte, verbreitete Sorte, deren ursprünglicher Name verloren ging.” ²
